Of course it’s just hair.  And I know it will grow.  But to answer Heather’s question- yes, my heart is still in pain about finally cutting Logan’s hair.  He is a big boy now and needs a neat cut for sports play, and to keep away the inevitable daily remark that he is a girl.  Seems like most people have never flipped through a National Geographic.  How did the Indians do it?

The Guys

Posted in Logan

If you know “The Guys” then A. you are cool, and B. you know that they are the greatest boys in the Palisades.  Brothers and best friends, they have been Logan’s favorite pals since he was about six months old.  They throw rocks, race barefoot, wrestle, sing karaoke, hug, bounce, sword fight, climb trees,  love gummy bears and do everything that boys should do.

The weather was perfect enough to head to the beach twice today.  Marlo enjoyed soaking up the rays and fell asleep to the sound of the waves.

Sand Crabs

Posted in Logan

Today Logan and his buddy Mason were sand crabs.  With only 3 weeks to go before school begins the boys are soaking up the sun and beach.

PCH was closed for most of the day yesterday due to a fallen tree but that didn’t stop us from driving across PCH to meet up with friends at our favorite spot on the beach.  We set the kids free!  Logan and Kaylie had fun turning themselves into sand art.

We love the beach and the second we see what Logan declares a “sunny day” we head straight to the sand.  Marlo is 4 ½ months old and beginning to enjoy the water.  Today she got a real kick from watching Logan and dad boogie boarding.  No photos of Logan riding solo as Marlo and I were preoccupied with cheering him on.

Hyrdrangea Mob

Posted in Marlo

Charles Dickens first used the term mob cap in 1812 to describe a disorderly urban mob watching the guillotining of French aristocrats. Marlo’s mob needed a bit more flair than the traditional one so I sewed pink hydrangea petals onto one that was custom-tailored for her tiny head by a designer in Ohio.

Stir It Up

Logan and I had fun baking a batch of cupcakes for our friends Alethea and Hass’ 10-year wedding anniversary party.  Candles, flowers, treat bags for us (!), desserts, delicious food and burlap- it was perfectly lovely.  Oh, and a pirate bouncer was included.  That’s our kind of party.

One Busy Week

Posted in Logan

Summer is flying by too quickly and with two little kids we can hardly keep up.  Logan is enjoying one month of summer camp at the YMCA and Marlo is gobbling up summer yams and squash.  Today we celebrated the last of our summer birthdays with a sprinkled chocolate cake for my dad.  A few more weeks to go.
