Marlo Cakes

Logan has a lot of nicknames for Marlo, but our favorite one is Marlo Cakes.  Here are a few snapshots of Marlo playing with Logan’s toys while he is away at preschool.

The lima beans are growing well so we think they deserve pots of their own.  Out of the ziplock and into terra cotta they go!

How are those beans doin’ you wonder?  Ok, you’d forgotten about them.  Not us.  Logan checks on them each morning.  They are a-sproutin’.  Told ya he has a green thumb.

Kung Fu

This weekend we attended Hanna’s Tol.  It was a traditional Korean celebration honoring Hanna’s first birthday.  Plate upon plate of delicious food was served, Korean sweets were packed into pink boxes and Hanna was dressed in a gorgeous traditional gown.  Sadly I don’t have a photo of the celebration as Miss Marlo is a tough cookie at restaurants.  Prior to attending the celebration I described to Logan that we would be attending a special birthday party.  He instantly demanded that he wear his black Chinese outfit.  How he understood the culture of the event I am not sure, but he did!  Grammie and Tristan had selected an outfit for him this summer in China Town when we visited San Francisco.  There couldn’t have been a better time to wear it.

Logan had his first homework assignment this weekend.  Given his green thumb we got right to work!  He had to “plant” three lima beans in ziplock baggie.  He carefully followed the steps as pictured on his assignment sheet and was gentle with his beans because he exclaimed “I want them all to grow big, big, big!”

Marlo is learning to sit-up, beginning to crawl and doing her best to keep up with big brother Logan.  Sweet, charming and full of smiles.

Summer was a very long 12 weeks!  Logan kept busy with summer camp at Lutheran Preschool, Bible Camp and the YMCA.  He is ready and so are we for another terrific school year.

Inspired by a vintage suit pattern I had to make this for Logan to wear to Orientation Day at school.  After all those years of wearing Catholic school uniforms I had to see Logan in something spiffy, yet sporty!  You can take the girl out of the Catholic school but she gets to keep the clean, classic look for her son.  A suit indeed, but playful for running and monkeying around.
