Soccer Shark

Posted in Logan

Logan’s soccer team is appopriately named after the single great white player- Logan, the shark.  Proud to play for both is own team and the opposing team, Logan led his team to another annihilation.

Left with a lot more fuel to burn off Logan and his buddy Mason challenged themselves to the Temescal Canyon Waterfall which was a challenging four-mile hike along a seasonally thin creek, rocky switch backs, and ample tree cover.  Despite the recent rain there wasn’t much of a waterfall but that didn’t stop the boys from jumping into the creek once they reached the top.  Having not hiked this trail since Logan was in a hiker I was really impressed that he completed the hike.  It was really special to listen to his conversation with Mason as it ranged from their little sisters’ napping patterns, Halloween costumes, Star Wars, favorite ice creme flavors, “what vegetable would you be?”, and tales about their strength, muscles and bravery.  They really are the coolest and cutest four-year olds in town.

Batman

Posted in Logan

Logan has wanted a Batman raincoat for so long because it “will make me so fast, so fast.”  He wasn’t up for flying yesterday and is still a bit blue but he tested out the wings and that made him feel a lot better.

Rainy Day Hike

Posted in Logan

Rain in LA, a cloudy drizzle will do, and the hiking boots come out.  Logan was feeling a bit under the weather but was still up for finding acorns, throwing rocks and sludging through the creek.  Marlo is always up for muddy fun.

Logan scored too many times for his own soccer team today so he volunteered to play for the other team too.

It was perfect hiking weather today and my friend Heather and her daughter Kaylie agreed.  We hiked through Will Rogers and discovered a small creek that the kids enjoyed.

Even in the rain, and in a small creek Logan finds a way to “surf”.

Pumpkin Patch

Posted in Logan

I love pumpkins.  I love everthing about them- their color, shape, smell, seeds, stickiness, and even their stems.  Visiting our local pumpkin patch with the kids is really a treat for me to be surrounded by all that lovely round orangeness!  All the kids care about is the rope swing and finding the wartiest bumpiest pumpkin.

Earlier that afternoon the kids and I enjoyed a hike along our favorite creek.

The UCLA Fowler Museum hosted five different art stations designed to celebrate the power of drawing for children.  We loved the ample art supplies, friendly staff and creative stations.  Each station was hosted in a different part of the museum and was developed to increase children’s understanding of the exibits currently on display at the museum.

Angles are Logan’s favorite art style right now so he really enjoyed this.

Whenever it rains in LA we love to take the kids for a Carousel Ride at the Pier.  It’s a great shelter from the rain and the old-fashioned milk shake bar has tasty treats.
