Arboretum

The Arboretum is gorgeous!  127 acres of botanical gardens and historical sites for the kids to explore, sniff and see.  The kids really enjoyed the peacocks and various ponds.  The trails were easy enough for Marlo and the stick house, “peppermint house” and original stables were amazing.  My friend Melissa has been sharing this secret with me for years and I can’t believe we waited this long to visit.  Good thing we had Joey, our four-year old buddy, to give us a tour of the “special spots”.

Does this say it all or what?

We’ve waited a long time for Logan to be old enough to enjoy the Nutcracker Ballet.  This weekend’s performance by the children’s Malibu Ballet Society on Pepperdine University’s campus was a treat for the three of us.  The ballerinas were lovely, the costumes exquisite and the performance was memorable.  Logan’s favorite part of course was the fight between the toy soldiers and the Nutcracker.  When he came home he had new spins and high jumps to show Marlo who will have to wait a couple of years until she can see enjoy the performance.

The view of the ocean from the Pepperdine University hillside is really lovely, but
what I liked about this photo was the scale between dad and son.
