Belmont Shore

Finally, a really hot day!  The kids spent the day playing in the bay, building sand castles, chasing each other with buckets of water, and floated along the shore.

Seal

Posted in Logan

Nature never disappoints you in the Palisades.  Today a seal paddled onto shore only a few feet away from the kids.  First the seal swam along the shore, then it waddled onto to the sand and headed for the rocks where it spent the rest of the afternoon basking in the sun.

It was a gorgeous sunny and crisp morning which was perfect for horseback riding in Malibu.  Treated the kids to a riding lesson and Marlo can’t stop talking about Frosty.  Logan wants to teach Frosty to race.

Crazy Saturday

Posted in Logan

We had the wildest Saturday.  The children were playing baseball when Palisades Patrol and Station 69 raced in to escort everyone off the play yard.  Palisades Patrol informed the children ” A helicopter is going to land in a few minutes.  You can come back to play soon.”  We were allowed the watch the emergency landing.  The kids were very excited about this.  A young child nearby was raced in on an ambulance and needed to be airlifted to Children’s Hospital.  The execution by our local station was impressive.  The kids were amazed and so were parents.

Our day continued with a hike through Temescal.  While scootin’ through the canyon we saw Dr. Dre, the rap star.  The kids tried to catch up with him but he was too fast for them.  My sister and niece arrived and we decided to practice for next week’s YMCA Track Meet so we set the kids on the line and raced each other.  A maintenance worker was so impressed with their racing that he gave them a ride across the football field on the mow cart.  The kids loved that.

The day didn’t end there.  The kids wanted more baseball so we headed to Rustic Canyon and met up with another friend.  We had three kids hitting simultaneously off the tees and the two little girls fielding balls.  It was a riot.  A face painting table and hot dog stand were set up which ended the day off for the kids with dinner and decor perfectly!

Home Run!

Posted in Logan

Logan scored his first official Home Run at his first turn at bat today.  “Everyone hits a home run mom.  Everyone comes home.  All I did was run around the bases.”  I tried explaining the difference between a base hit and a home run and Logan replied “Too much running in a home run.”  Clearly I was much more excited than Logan.

The invite read “Muffins for Mom”.  Logan’s preschool class hosted a Mother’s Day Tea with homemade muffins freshly baked and served by the children.  Handpicked flowers and charmingly wrapped gifts decorated the room.  It was a lovely way to spend the morning.

It was so warm yesterday that the kids insisted on skinny dippin’ in the creek.  You really can’t blame them!
